As we all know youth exchanges allows young people from different countries to meet, live together and work on shared projects for short period of time. And this is what we, a group of 4 girls (Renata, Adelė, Ugnė and Karolina) from Lithuania together with other youngsters from Romania, Turkey and Portugal did. On January 13th-18th we participated in a youth exchange project “Step back from the edge” organized by association Aici pentru tine in Brasov, Romania.
The topics that we were discussing during the exchange were about mental health, drugs, alcohol, IT and other addictions among youngsters, preventions for it and how it can affect our life now and in the future. We believe that these discussions gave us much needed understanding and knowledge about important subjects that needs to be reflected more often. During the exchange all of us managed to complete mission impossible, we created a campaign about prevention for different addictions and so on. Besides that, we had lots of fun discussing on various topics about addictions with a lot of open-minded youngsters and got a chance to see things from another’s perspective. As our girl group said, it was a unique opportunity to meet new people from different countries, to get to know them and learn some new things about other cultures that we didn’t know before, and all of us had fun teaching each other not only traditional dances but also language. Also, some of us for the first time tried Romanian, Portuguese and Turkish traditional foods and visited Romania for the first time in their life, which was also an interesting and educative experience.
