Over the past months, A Million Voices: Uniting Through Stories has brought people together through a series of creative workshops designed to support emotional well-being and human connection. These activities were implemented across Lithuania, Poland, and Germany, bringing together Ukrainians and local communities through shared experiences.
Rather than focusing on formal dialogue or structured outcomes, the workshops created simple, human spaces – places to slow down, express emotions, and meet others without pressure.
Creativity as a Meeting Point
The workshops covered a wide range of creative formats, each offering a different way to connect.
Sound-based sessions such as gong relaxation invited participants to pause, rest, and release tension through vibration and stillness. Dance therapy sessions used movement and music to help participants reconnect with their bodies, regain energy, and experience joy together.

Creative expression played a central role. Painting workshops took place in relaxed, non-judgmental environments where participants could work freely with colours and textures, without expectations or artistic rules. Many described these sessions as a way to let go, focus on the moment, and express emotions without words.

Food also became a powerful connector. During Cooking & Connection Nights, participants cooked and shared meals together, exchanging stories and memories while preparing food side by side. These evenings felt familiar and grounding – closer to a shared home dinner than a formal event.

Voice and sound were explored in Singing Workshops and Inner Voice sessions, where participants worked with breathing, vocal expression, and listening. These workshops focused on presence, self-awareness, and the experience of using one’s voice together with others in a supportive environment.
Working Across Countries
Workshops were implemented in Lithuania, Poland, and Germany, adapted to local contexts while keeping the same core idea: using creativity as a bridge between people. Each location brought its own dynamics, languages, and communities, but the underlying need for connection remained the same.
One activity, however, was unique in its form and purpose.
Car Painting for Ukraine (Lithuania)
The Car Painting Activity was implemented only in Lithuania, in collaboration with an organisation that delivers humanitarian aid to Ukraine. Participants painted two cars – one indoors and one outdoors – which will be sent to Ukraine as part of humanitarian missions.

This activity combined art with direct action. Painting the cars became a way to express solidarity, share messages of support, and learn more about the realities of humanitarian work. For many participants, it was meaningful to know that their creative contribution would physically travel to Ukraine and be part of real support efforts.
What These Workshops Created
Across all countries and formats, participants consistently described similar outcomes:
- feeling calmer and more grounded,
- experiencing joy, relief, or renewed energy,
- feeling more connected to others,
- having space to express emotions safely.
Not every moment was perfect, and experiences differed from person to person – but overall, the workshops showed how small, creative interventions can open space for reflection, care, and connection in everyday life.
A Million Voices continues to explore how creativity, presence, and shared experiences can support people navigating change, uncertainty, and displacement – across borders and communities.
