Capoeira Connects Europe aims to encourage young people to engage in an active lifestyle through capoeira. The project’s goal is to reduce the social exclusion of disadvantaged youth while promoting empathy and tolerance.
SHORT DESCRIPTION
The project aims to involve underprivileged youth in capoeira activities, bring them closer to the community, and boost their confidence and self-esteem. The project also aims to teach youth workers about capoeira, its history, and the inclusive aspect. The promotion of capoeira as an inclusive activity is at the center of the project.
Capoeira Connects Europe is funded by Erasmus+ and is a collaboration between 5 partners: Association Active Youth (Lithuania), Capokids Capoeira (Latvia), Subjective Values Foundation (Hungary), Żejtun Local Council (Malta), and NGO Spordi- ja Kultuuriselt Capoeira Vadeia (Estonia).
PROJECT MAIN ACTIVITIES
- Prepare and organize training courses in Latvia and Estonia where youth workers will be provided with technical and practical knowledge on organizing capoeira activities
- Organize local capoeira classes bringing as many different people as possible with a special focus on those coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, minorities, or discriminated social groups
- Organize the first free public capoeira event happening in different countries at the exact same time
- Creation and dissemination of a good practice toolkit that will provide practical piece of advice for youth workers on how to use capoeira as a tool of social inclusion of vulnerable groups
