PROJECT OVERVIEW
Memory Makers: Youth Driving the Future of Remembrance is a bold educational initiative addressing the need to reimagine Holocaust education through the lens of youth engagement, inclusivity, and modern media. The project involves over 500 young people across Europe, inviting them to rediscover and reinterpret historical narratives—especially those of lesser-known victims such as LGBTQ+ individuals, Roma people, and persons with disabilities. By merging oral history with digital storytelling, animation, and creative media, Memory Makers encourages youth to explore the legacies of human rights violations and connect them to current societal challenges like discrimination and populism.
OBJECTIVES
- Engage over 500 youth in critically examining Holocaust narratives, with a focus on underrepresented victim groups.
- Foster digital storytelling skills through innovative tools such as animations, podcasts, and short-form video formats.
- Equip at least 310 educators and activists with inclusive, ready-to-use educational resources.
- Establish lasting partnerships with organizations representing marginalized communities to ensure authenticity.
- Build a multimedia “Memory Makers Library of Learning” to preserve and amplify these stories for future generations.
HOW DO WE ACHIEVE IT
- Educational and Commemorative Events: Organize a series of impactful, youth-focused events across Europe that explore Holocaust remembrance through various thematic lenses.
- Digital Storytelling Workshops: Train youth to reinterpret historical narratives using modern creative tools, focusing on lesser-known voices.
- Training Toolkit & Materials: Develop a set of educational resources to support formal and non-formal educators.
- Memory Makers Library of Learning: Create an online hub that compiles multimedia materials including videos, podcasts, and webinar content.
