Training course “Storytelling advances intercultural diversity” (Acronym: SAID) took place in Vienna, Austria.

Below you can find testimony made by the participants (Paula, Domantė and Youssef) of the project:

“It all started on a Sunday morning 18th of March 2018. We met at the conference room in the Brigittenau Youth Palace Hostel in Vienna and by the end of the week it felt like we knew each other for ages.

Let us explain further. Mladiinfo Austria organized a training course “Storytelling Advances Intercultural Diversity” under the Erasmus+ program and had participants from Austria, France, Jordan, Morocco, Slovakia, Tunisia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Italy and Egypt.

On our first day we had introduction session with general information about the project and the planning for the next few days. Afterwards Mathias Haas shared with us his knowledge in social media and explained during a long enriching session the best ways to optimize Facebook Page use both through its own tools and also storytelling. This might sound all boring to you; it is indeed, when you’re not interested. But we all were interested. We had in common that impatience for learning and that what started getting us closer. That evening, we had the best intercultural night ever, each country was represented by its traditional foods and drinks, we had games, played music and danced. It was amazing moments where we really enjoyed each other’s company. The day after was even more fun, we had workshops in groups with lot of interactions and knowledge sharing. We were divided into teams to work together during the highlight of this project “WSA – World Summit Award”.

Tuesday 20th March, the real work has begun now. For the next 3 days, all the participants of S.A.I.D project were spreading like bees inside the WSA. Each team with a to-do-list. You could see us at the main hall listening carefully to inspirational speakers, taking part of workshops under different themes, writing down notes, catching guests for quick unplanned interviews. And in between we were sitting for hours putting learning into practice and creating content.

On the last night of the WSA, it was a great Gala inner and after party where everyone could take off the stress and fatigue after lots of hard work.

As a conclusion, it was a very unique and delightful experience for so many reasons. We learned a lot. Knowledge is a must to success. We had the chance to meet important people and somehow take part of their journey. We had fun. We did it all. But most importantly we won each other’s friendship and respect and that is something that will forever stay marked in our lives.”
